Coastal Mist Bowl [SOLD]
Hi, I’m Yu.
And I obsess over pottery at Morino Studios. I’m happy you’re here!
When I was growing up in a semi-rural town in Japan, though we weren’t affluent by any means, beautiful, functional ceramics were a part of our everyday lives. Some were rustic, while others leaned more refined; yet others would bring a smile to your face with their playfulness. As was custom, I had “my” teacup and “my” rice bowl (along with “my” chopsticks) that I used for every meal.
Even after living in the US for 20+ years, I’m still drawn to everyday pottery that feels personal. I hope you’ll find one that feels like “yours” here.

I’m lucky to live in a city with a good number of independent stores that specialize in Japanese ceramics, from everyday tableware to one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces. Here are my six favorites, plus a few honorable mentions. All in Manhattan - a Brooklyn list coming soon.
